Dreams of the Salt Marsh
About the project
A teaser for the full documentary portrait of ceramic artist Sam Tubiolo and Dreams of the Salt Marsh, his public artwork in Alviso, San José.
Tubiolo’s ceramic murals and sculptures explore landscape, human presence, and the passage of time. Completed in 2019, Dreams of the Salt Marsh spans nearly 240 feet of the Alviso Storm Pump Station’s exterior in hand-sculpted, glazed ceramic tile. Shaped by conversations with the community, its imagery connects the wetlands with Alviso’s history, from Ohlone inhabitants to its maritime and railway eras.
