Backslash
Jeremiah Mayhew was one of the leads who helped launch Backslash, TBWA’s internal cultural news initiative. These two films are part of that editorial project.
Introduced in 2016, Backslash brought cultural news and emerging trends into the agency through short daily videos, drawing on a worldwide network of culture spotters. The initiative gave teams a shared view of changes in technology, entertainment, and everyday life to inform their creative work.

Dreams of the Salt Marsh
A teaser for the full documentary portrait of ceramic artist Sam Tubiolo and Dreams of the Salt Marsh, his public artwork in Alviso, San José.
Tubiolo’s ceramic murals and sculptures explore landscape, human presence, and the passage of time. Completed in 2019, Dreams of the Salt Marsh spans nearly 240 feet of the Alviso Storm Pump Station’s exterior in hand-sculpted, glazed ceramic tile. Shaped by conversations with the community, its imagery connects the wetlands with Alviso’s history, from Ohlone inhabitants to its maritime and railway eras.
